Step One - Convert to Two-Up
This bike came to us set with a very nice solo saddle. But this is now a show bike, and I need help working the sales tent at various motorcycle poker runs, rallys and such, meaning I need to be able to haul my assistant with me. So we need to convert to a two-up seat, and add a backrest for additional safety. No problem!
Now, because we already have a solo saddle, and can convert back to that easily, we are opting for a well padded dual seat rather than a low profile seat. Frankly the lines of the bike aren't what we like with a big twin seat, but the comfort for an extended ride is more important - so we are looking at bigger touring seats. And we are also electing to go for gel padding rather than foam, just for that extra bit of comfort.
An example of a low profile dual seat that keeps the sharp lines of the bike can be found here: Villain Seat for Touring Models
But we are going with something along these lines: Solo with Driver Backrest and Rear Seat
Then we are adding a sissy bar with pad. Now this is a three piece process because you have the sidebars, then the sissy bar itself, and finally the pad. And, you can elect to buy the sidebars that remain on the bike full time, or are removable so you can easily return to your original look. We chose a cost effective approach that comes as a matched set of sidebars and sissy bar, using permanent installation of the sidebars, and easily removed sissy bar. It is this model: Mini Lowboy
And then we finish it off with our choice of backrest pad, which is: Vintage Style
Now - Amazing Products offers a selection of over twenty sissy bar styles, thirty backrest pads, and fifty seats! So don't think you are limited to the choices we have shown here, becasue we can show you plenty of options to meet your needs and personal taste.
The entire project can be done easily in one hour! Minimal tools and skills are required, and it would be darned tough for you to do any damage to your bike for this operation.
